Spells, by Aprilynne Pike

I fell in love with Aprilynne Pike’s writing last summer after I read Wings. (Check out my review on it here!) And to finally read more about Laurel, David, Tamani, and the world of Avalon, I just had to read start this book right away! Right now Spells is a little slow, but I assume it will pick up in the middle of the book. I love the idea of Aprilynne’s view on faeries. Its different from Melissa Marr and Julie Kagawa. I picture myself watching Spells as a movie, because its so detailed! I can’t wait to read more of Spells. I’m so excited to keep reading!

“I am.”
“How free?”
“As free as I wanted to be,” he replied a little hotly
“Are you free to walk beside me?”
He was silent.
“Are you free to be anything more than a friend to me? If, ” she stressed the if heavily, “I ever decided to live in Avalon and wanted to be with you, would you be free enough to do that?”
He looked away, and Laurel could tell he’d been avoiding a conversation like this.
“Well?” she insisted.
“If you wanted it,” he finally said.
