City of Ashes, by Cassandra Clare

(If you haven’t read City of Bones first, this review may spoil it!)

Clary Fray wishes she had her life back to normal. Especially since Clary wants to spend more time with her best friend, Simon. But after finding out that she is a “demon-slaying Shadowhunter,” Clary doesn’t think “normal” is going to happen. Clary needs to help her mother, and only Clary’s oh-so-handsome brother, Jace, can help. Clary and Jace need to track down Valentine, the most evil and insane Shadowhunter out there-even though he’s their father. In City of Ashes, Clary is forced to make certain decisions about Simon, Jace, and everything she knew about the world of Shadowhunting.

My opinion: City of Ashes was really interesting! I enjoyed reading it as much as City of Bones. Cassandra Clare has never failed to catch my attention, the details make me feel like I’m in the story, and how Cassandra’s writing keeps you guessing until the end of the book, all I have to say is WOW. I was a little angry about one of Clary’s choices, but I heard that she changes that choice in the next book, City of Glass. I will definitely continue to read the series! I reccomend this book to those who have read City of Bones! Be sure to read City of Bones before you read City of Ashes.
