Mermaid Park, by Beth Mayall

Mermaid Park, by Beth Mayall, is about sixteen-year-old Amy who spends her summer at the Jersey shore with her family. She didn’t want to go on this “family” trip, especially since she has to spend it with her annoying stepfather. Soon enough, Amy realizes that her summer vacation isn’t so bad after all: she finds Mermaid Park; an old tourist attraction where girls dress up in beautiful costumes and put on shows in this huge underwater tank. Amy gets a job at Mermaid Park and working there changes her life. Amy finds confidence, romance, and family secrets that shouldn’t have been discovered in the first place.

My opinion: First of all, my judging on ‘Judging Its Cover (1)’ was wrong. (Oops!) I literally thought Mermaid Park would be about mermaids! (It’s not, by the way.) Either way, I thought Mermaid Park was a good and quick read. I would love to work at Mermaid Park, though. It would be fun to dress up in cool costumes and putting on a show while swimming. Mermaid Park was cute, and I recommend this to you if you want a cute, quick read. :)
