SYNOPSIS - (From Goodreads)
Jael has always felt like a freak. She’s never kissed a boy, she never knew her mom, and her dad’s always been super strict—but that’s probably because her mom was a demon, which makes Jael half demon and most definitely not a normal sophomore girl. On her sixteenth birthday, a mysterious present unlocks her family’s dangerous history and Jael’s untapped potential. What was merely an embarrassing secret before becomes a terrifying reality. Jael must learn to master her demon side in order to take on a vindictive Duke of Hell while also dealing with a twisted priest, best-friend drama, and a spacey blond skater boy who may have hidden depths.
Author Jon Skovron takes on the dark side of human nature with his signature funny, heartfelt prose.
THOUGHTS
Misfit was better than I thought it would be! The whole idea of a half demon is awesome! I was not disappointed when I read it.
Jon Skovron knows how to pull you into his writing. He sets his story’s pace perfectly. It’s not slow, but it doesn’t move too fast either. Skovron gives time for everything in Misfit, it’s enough to completely understand his version of “Hell”, the Grand Duke’s of Hell, half demons, and awesome elements.
One of my favorite parts of Misfit was the action scenes! There wasn’t just physical fighting, like punching and kicking, but using elements to fight too! I don’t want to spoil too much, but all I’ll say right now is that demons are lucky to have these abilities. ![]()
All of Skovron’s characters were quite fascinating. I loved how he was vivid when he described them; I can picture them perfectly in my head!
Although, the ending was quite predictable. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the ending! But I had a feeling of what would happen in the end in the last twenty or so pages.
Overall, Misfit was something that you should all give thought into reading. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more about Jael and her half demon self!
