Nathaniel is a super smart eighth grader who doesn’t have any friends. All because he stutters. No one, not even the teachers, are patient enough to wait for Nathaniel’s response to their questions. That’s why he’s always left alone, except by bullies. Fortunately, summer is finally here and Nathaniel can’t wait to get out of school. Though it gets better: his parents sign him up to spend summer in Japan. Little does his know that he’s being sent up to space! Not only that, his stuttering problem gets fixed! Then Nathaniel finds out that he isn’t normal. Even though
he’s confused, it makes sense of why Nathaniel is the way he is. This science fiction story is a good book for all ages.
Nathaniel not only finds friends from across the universe, he also finds adventure and a strength he never knew he had. he will forever be changed for the better, if her survives..
My opinion: If you’ve known me long enough, you know that I have not grown into a liking of science fiction. This book, however, changed that. Savant is different, and nothing of what I’ve read before. Nathaniel and the rest of the characters are all very unique. They all have their own personalities that you’ll fall in love with. Even though they come from different planets, it doesn’t make them any different. One thing I didn’t enjoy was how the bullies in the beginning of the story treated Nathaniel. Sure, they’re bullies, but seriously, why would you do that? I’m glad that Nathaniel finds where he truly belongs, because the people on Earth didn’t even care about him. I really like the idea about different people coming from different planets across the universe. I think that is what makes Savant so unique. If you like books about friendship, fiction, fantasy, and science fiction, this is the book for you. I think that Savant is a one-of-a-kind book you can’t find anywhere else!
