Someone Like You, By Sarah Dessen is a short novel about two best friends, Halley and Scarlett who have been best friends since they were ten. Halley has always been the quiet one, while Scarlett is more energetic and outgoing. One night, Halley receives a call from Scarlett while she is at summer camp. Scarlett called because her boyfriend, Michael, has died in a motorcycle accident. Not only has Scarlett lost her boyfriend, but she has just found out that she is carrying his baby. This time, Scarlett is the one who needs Halley the most. Scarlett and Halley learn how to keep their friendship strong.
My opinion on the book: I thought that Someone Like You was a very sweet novel. It didn’t take me long to finish, it was only about 280 pages or so. Sarah Dessen has always satisfied me when I get to the end of a book; she never fails at writing her novels. I definitely reccomend this book to Sarah Dessen fans. If you haven’t read her books yet, start off with this one! Also, if you are having a lazy day, or hanging out at the beach, read Someone Like You. Its a great summer read that you can finish in one sitting.
