The Host, By Stephenie Meyer

the-hostThe Host: A Novel by Stephenie Meyer, the author of the best-selling series, The Twilight Saga, is a science fiction novel about “hosts” invading humans’ body, soul, and mind. Melanie, the main character, is one of the “wild” humans that have not been taken over by a host, yet. When Melanie is finally captured, something goes wrong with the process of transforming into a host. The host, aka Wanderer, was the one to take over Melanie. Melanie “refused” to let Wanderer take over her, so Melanie has remained. Therefore, Melanie stayed in Wanderer’s mind. Now, Melanie and Wanderer share Melanie’s body and mind. Now that Melanie and Wanderer share minds, Melanie fills Wanderer with visions and memories of the boy she loves, Jared. Together, they take on the most dangerous adventure that can get them both killed: to find the man they both love.
My opinion the book: When I first read the description of The Host, I was really excited to read the book; but I was really disappointed, also because this novel was by Stephenie Meyer. I haven’t read any science fiction books before, so I thought it would be a nice experience. Especially because Stephenie Meyer is one of my favorite authors. I thought The Host was very confusing and too complicated to keep up with. I was often getting confused and I had to read chapters and paragraphs several times. I probably won’t read another science fiction book in a really long time. I would recommend this book to Twilight fans who want to read more books by Stephenie Meyer. Though, I wouldn’t recommend this book to other readers, I’m sorry to say. Giving it a try won’t hurt, though. Hopefully you enjoy it more than I did. Waiting two and-a-half months for the book was not worth the wait.
