The Surgeon is the first book of the Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles series, written by Tess Gerritsen. Detective Jane Rizzoli is the only woman in the Boston Homicide Unit, and although she is one of the best detectives, she frequently has to prove her skills to the men that she works with to receive their respect. Maura Isles is a medical examiner that works with Detective Rizzoli to solve homicide cases.
The case to solve in The Surgeon leads into the second book entitled The Apprentice. Jane and Maura work to catch a killer named Warren Hoyt, as he continually performs harsh murders on women. Once Rizzoli has Hoyt in jail, his new goal is to find and kill Jane Rizzoli.
In Tess Gerritsen’s intriguing novels, Detective Rizzoli and Dr. Isles work hand in hand to solve cases for the Boston Police Department. These stories not only include the eerie stories encased in Gerritsen’s mind, but also the personal stories going on between these characters. I highly recommend reading the Tess Gerritsen: Rizzoli and Isles series. You’ll never want to put the books down!
