SYNOPSIS – (From Goodreads)
Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.

THOUGHTS
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was a great mixture of mystery, thriller, romance, and of course, teen angst. I loved reading this book. Yes, this book really creeped me out. Yes, I did risk my chance at sleeping while reading the book until 12AM. And yes, staying up late to finish the novel was worth it in every way possible.
Mara’s memories of the asylum was probably the scariest. Or maybe it was the alligators or the court house scene. Mara Dyer is a completely different character from any other book that I’ve read before, and everything about her was unusual and fascinating.
Speaking of fascinating, Noah was just as fascinating as Mara. Sure, extremely arrogant, but oh my goodness. I love Noah. He’s my new favorite YA boy character. I could not get enough of him! Hodkin did an amazing job of creating Mara’s love interest.
I still have many questions about Mara and Noah, but I’m looking forward to finding out more in Michelle Hodkin’s second novel.
There was something about Hodkin’s writing that I just loved. Mara’s feelings and thoughts, the descriptions and scenes, and everything else that was portrayed was written so nicely. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is what debut novels are all about!
Everyone should give The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer a try. I think the novel is just one of those books for everyone!
