The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and The Struggle, is a series by L. J. Smith. The Vampire Diaries is about popular senior, Elena, getting caught up in vampire trouble with the new transfer student from Italy, Stefan. The minute Elena laid eyes on Stefan, she was determined to have him; even if it means dumping her current boyfriend, Matt. Elena tries hard to make Stefan want her, even though he is the only one who resists her. Then comes along Damon, Stefan’s older brother. Damon will kill to have Elena, and so danger starts. People are turning up dead and badly hurt. Fell’s Church is pointing to Stefan and Damon, but Elena knows its not them. While Stefan and Damon are fighting for Elena, Elena tries to solve the mystery and stop the murderer who is killing all these people; before something worse happens.
My opinion on the book: I just loved reading The Vampire Diaries. I finished both books in two days! Some people may say that The Vampire Diaries is just like Twilight, but its not! The plot is very different! Its basically turned around. (Plus, The Vampire Diaries was published way before Twilight was written! It was published in the early 1990s.) You shouldn’t judge The Vampire Diaries by the name, you should give this book a try before you say anything bad about it. I recommend this to all fans of vampires! Haven’t started reading about vampires yet? Read this even before you read Twilight. The Vampire Diaries is the original Twilight that you will fall in love with.
