Tricks, By Ellen Hopkins

TricksTricks, by Ellen Hopkins is about five different teens, two boys and three girls. They all go on a journey about being a teen and growing up. Their stories are told by themselves at first, but wind up together later on. They try to be the best they can, and they all search for the same thing: family, safety, freedom, and love. These troubled teens learn about making the right and wrong choices, being who they really are, and growing up.

My opinion: Ellen Hopkins has always been a great writer. Her stories are real, and many teens can relate to her writing. I think most teens can relate to Hopkins’ books. They are about troubled teens who learn that hurting themselves, taking drugs, and breaking the rules isn’t what life is all about. I recommend Tricks and Ellen Hopkins’ books to everyone who loves to read. I am positive you will love her the minute you pick up her books.
