Wake, a novel by Lisa McMann is about seventeen-year-old Janie who sees what other people around her dream about. Janie has been dreaming other people’s dreams since she was eight, and there is nothing she likes about it. Nothing she dreams about is right: they are all about nightmares. Who would want to dream about nightmares all the time? But one night, she dreams about a devastating disaster, but it gets worse, she’s participating in it! Not only does Janie deal with the nightmares of others, she deals with friendship and boyfriend troubles. Wake is a short novel that will keep you thinking until the very end.
My opinion: I think I expected way too much from Wake. I thought it would be better than it really was. Reading it was also confusing, there were lots of different fonts going on, which made it harder to understand. The plot was okay, though only at certain times. Just when I was beginning to understand what a chapter was about, the next few paragraphs and chapters started to confuse me. The book was confusing as some of my own dreams. I was really disappointed on Wake and I don’t think I will continue to read the series.
