Wings, By Aprilynne Pike

wingsWings , by Aprilynne Pike is about fifteen year-old Laurel entering high school as a sophomore after being home schooled for twelve years. Laurel has moved from a small town called Orick to Crescent City. From there on, Laurel meets David, a helpful and friendly guy whom she becomes friends with. Though, that is not the story: one day, Laurel finds a big “zit” on her back which grows bigger each day. After a couple of days, the zit was not a zit after all, it blossomed into a follower: and it looked just like wings. While visiting her old house in Orick, Laurel meets Tamani, a boy about Laurel’s age who explains to her why she has that flower on her back. Laurel is surprised by the outcome of what she has become: she cannot believe what she is. Laurel’s story continues filled with magic, danger, and surprises.

My opinion on the book: I loved reading Wings! I enjoyed reading something new other than vampires. Wings was very interesting and kept me reading from the beginning! There is nothing I disliked about this magical tale. I would recommend this for readers who love fiction and want something other than vampires, werewolves, or just something new.
